Our Melting Process

Parts are cast into the desired shape by melting certified scrap, mixed with in-house foundry returns of same material and other elements to meet the required material specified.

Our Furnaces

At our Walsall based foundry, melting is carried out by either of our two one ton, two 350kg electrical furnaces or 100kg aluminium electrical melt furnaces.

Quality Control

Our furnaces run under a strict quality control procedure, with metal analysis being checked to ensure that every melt of metal meets the required material specifications. Our furnace/ quality control process includes –

Spectrograph – All melts are chemically analysed in-house by our fully qualified metallurgists

Micro Analysis – All Ductile Iron melts are micro analysed for nodularity

Temperature – All melts are temperature checked in the furnace & in the ladle prior to every cast

Hardness – Brinell Hardness tests carried out by trained quality staff.
