GREEN SAND MOULDING
A palletline semi-automatic track using green sand moulding provides the most economical and popular way to produce castings.
What is Green Sand Moulding?
Green sand moulding mixes sand, clay, and water to form a durable mould material. Workers compact this mixture around a pattern to create the final shape.
The water activates the clay’s bonding properties and binds the sand together. Manufacturers call this method “green” because workers use the sand in its moist state rather than drying or baking it.
You can find green sand castings in everything from ship components to engine blocks.
Our Green Sand Moulding Process
We use boxless moulds in two standard sizes:
-
17” x 13” (430mm x 330mm)
-
18” x 14” (460mm x 355mm)
We produce our moulds using BMM Jolt Squeeze machines. Next, we move them to a multi-track pallet line for continuous casting.
After the castings form and cool, we transfer them to an automatic shakeout machine. This machine separates the castings and sends the sand for recycling.
Using this efficient method, we produce castings ranging from a few grams up to 15kg.
